Check out this stunning documentary by wildlife filmmaker and music producer, VikasWildlife

"Join my journey to the Alaskan Arctic to document the stories of rare birds and wildlife, including an extremely special sighting at the end of the video. I composed the soundtrack for this video inspired by the trip.   I am a wildlife filmmaker and music producer. I wanted to combine my passion for ornithology with music to bring you the best film I could possibly make.   I also take you behind the scenes to show my process for composing the soundtrack of this documentary."

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at resurrectionbaysailingcharters@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Obviously, we're going to say us!  Resurrection Bay Sailing Charters offers private, small-group sailing experiences that provide a quieter and more personalized alternative to large tour boats in Seward.

Yes, all of the sailing we do in Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park include views of hanging glaciers.  To see tidewater glaciers with us, you'll have to book a multi-day sailing charter.

Common wildlife sightings include humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, puffins, bald eagles, and salmon. It is more common to see whales in Resurrection Bay in May and June.

Sailing out of Seward is pretty ideal!  In Resurrection Bay during the Summer months, we tend to see North winds in the mornings, switching to a South wind in the afternoons.  We see very light winds in the morning, picking up to 10-15 knots around noon. Seas are around 1-3 feet, getting choppier in the evenings. Water temperature stays below about 55 degrees all summer.  As you get further away from Seward approaching the Gulf of Alaska, you are more exposed and can see much bigger seas, 10-15 ft seas.  With storms or more severe weather, expect bigger seas and watch out for Eastern winds which make anchoring even in protected coves more uncomfortable and dangerous due to Williwaws. A williwaw is a strong wind that comes from the other side of a mountain, picking up speed as it comes down the mountain.  *In strong Easterly wind conditions, the safest recommendation is heading back to the dock in Seward for overnights.
